a note from me
Hi, I'm Brooke Taylor. I live on a 3 acre semi-rural 'farm' in Oxford, Ohio. I have identical twin boys, who are grown now, but I am so proud of them. I also have a lot of pets, so it feels a bit like Dr. Dolittle around here. I am passionate about growing to be a better person to myself, others, and the earth.
I never meant to start a company. I just wanted to heal my skin issues that were not going away with healthy diet alone.
So, just like all my wild projects, I started researching and playing with the chemistry of soap formulations. That was in 2018 (?)
I was working at a tech start-up, and I didn't have the time to take care of myself, so I left. Just like that, the rest of my life opened.
One day soon after, my dear friend told me I should just make my soap as my job, which I was selling to friends and family.
Just for fun, one night I applied my start-up expertise to this idea, and the calculations seemed unsurmountable. Handmake and sell over 750 bars of soap (or products) a month, every month, to pay the bills.
With no budget for employees, I set out to do it all. Sandwiched between the hours of making products, I also manage cash flow, risk, product design, expenses, marketing, shipping, legal/tax/insurance, etc.
The people I have met, the relationships I have formed, and the beauty I have seen, has healed me in so many ways.
I live to hear the healing stories from others. It's been more than healing my skin, and now others getting similar results. I see we all can heal when we take time to spoil ourselves.
