All About Our Products
We’re so happy you’re here! Every product we make — from our soaps to our salves to our bath salts — is thoughtfully crafted with pure, simple ingredients you can feel good about using. We know shopping for handmade, natural products can bring up questions, and we’re here to help! Below you'll find answers to some of the most common things people ask. Ingredients, Safety, & Sustainability
We start with our own raw goat’s milk, hand-milked on our farm or other local partner farms, and blend it with food-grade oils like olive, coconut, and premium oils such as shea, castor, and more. We do our best to use unrefined, non-solvent based oil distillations for our food-grade oils. Each bar is scented only with therapeutic-grade essential oils and colored using herbs, clays, and natural plant infusions. The clay we use is certified as ethically sourced and free from child labor practices, doing our part in ensuring products are both safe, fair, and sustainable.
Our salves are made with the same care and commitment as our soaps. We start with food-grade oils and therapeutic-grade essential oils, and blend them with local beeswax from Don Popp’s Honey Farm. The beeswax acts as a natural preservative, meaning we don’t need to add any chemicals, artificial fragrances, or synthetic stabilizers. Every ingredient is chosen to be as clean, simple, and effective as possible — just the way nature intended.
Most of our soaps are not vegan because we use goat’s milk from our own farm for its nourishing and moisturizing benefits. However, all of our ingredients are ethically sourced and cruelty-free. If you’re looking for a vegan option, feel free to reach out—we do make custom vegan orders in batches of 32 bars or more.
No, our salves and balms are not vegan because we use local beeswax from Don Popp’s Honey Farm, where sustainable beekeeping practices help support and strengthen the local bee population. The beeswax acts as a natural preservative and offers incredible skin-protective benefits.
Absolutely. We love animals, and no part of our process involves animal testing. We hand-milk our goats with care and believe that skincare should be kind to you and the planet.
We keep packaging minimal, using recyclable, reusable, or compostable materials whenever possible. We believe there’s no need for multiple boxes before you get to the product, so we focus on using only what’s necessary to get your products to you safely. Our goal is to make sustainable choices in every part of our business, from the ingredients we farm to the box your products arrive in. While we do our best to avoid plastic, small items may occasionally require plastic for shipping safety.
Our products are made with simple, gentle ingredients. In fact, they’re often loved for their soothing properties, especially for those undergoing radiation, as they help ease the burning skin sensation many experience during treatment. However, because some essential oils may not be recommended during these times, we always suggest checking with your doctor and reviewing our full ingredient list. Our mildest bar soap is Honey & Oats, with no fragrance.
Soap Appearance & Use
Every bar is handcrafted from start to finish by Brooke Taylor — formulated, mixed, poured, cut, designed, and labeled — all right here, without outsourcing or mass production. Small-batch crafting not only gives each bar its own unique character in color, shape, and swirl, but also helps reduce waste, minimize our footprint, and support a more sustainable way of doing business. Like snowflakes, no two bars are identical, but each one is made with the same careful attention to quality and ingredients.
Yes! We use high-quality, food-grade oils, local goat’s milk, and steam distilled essential oils—no synthetic fragrances, dyes, or harsh chemicals. Many of our customers with sensitive skin tell us they’ve finally found relief using our bars. Of course, if you have a known allergy, be sure to check the full ingredient list.
Natural soap doesn’t contain hardening agents like commercial bars. To make your soap last longer, always let it dry between uses. A soap bag or draining soap dish works wonders (be sure to check out our accessories shop)!
We don’t use artificial dyes—our colors come from herbs, clays, essential oils, and natural infusions. Because these are plant-based, there can be slight variation from batch to batch, depending on the season or harvest. It’s all part of keeping things real and chemical-free!
The white spots are called stearic spots, which occur when natural fatty acids in the soap solidify during cooling. These are common in handmade soaps made with real butters and oils. The white powder or ash is called soda ash, a harmless, natural occurrence when unsaponified lye reacts with air during curing. Both of these are completely normal, don’t affect the performance or safety of your soap, and the soda ash rinses off with the first use.
Shipping & Returns
We do our best to ship orders as quickly as possible! Since we’re a small, handmade business, we aren’t able to ship daily — but if you need something urgently, just leave a note at checkout. We’ll prioritize your order and aim to get it out within a day for in-stock items.
Pre-order items ship as soon as they're ready. We typically wait until all items in your order are ready before shipping everything together. If you would prefer your in-stock items to arrive separately, please place two separate orders — one for pre-order items and one for in-stock products. The estimated ship date is listed in each product description. If you have any questions, we’re always happy to help!
Yes! We offer local pickup right from our porch in Oxford, Ohio (One mile from Oxford Kroger). Just select the "Local Pickup" option at checkout. After your order is ready, you’ll receive an email letting you know it’s available for pickup. Your order will be labeled and set out on the table on our front porch for easy, self-serve pickup. Please plan to pick up your order within 3 days of receiving the email. We’re usually inside busy making products, so while we’d love to say hello, we may not be available to chat during pickup. Thanks for understanding!
Because of the nature of our products, we’re unable to accept returns on beauty and personal care items, customized orders, or wholesale purchases. However, if there’s ever a problem with your order, please contact us — we want to make it right!
